Santamaria's Diccionario de mexicanismos has (for what it's worth):

Aposcahuarse. (De la preposicion a, y el azt. poxcauhqui, cosa mohosa.) pr. Enmohecerse, oxidarse, crear orin una cosa.
                              2. En general, pudrirse.

Frances Karttunen's Analytical Dictionary of Nahuatl has:
POXCAHU(I), to get moldy, dank / enmohecerse o henchirse alguna cosa de orin (M). See POXCAHUIYA.

POXCAHUIYA, to get covered with slime / se enlama (T). See POXCAHU(I).

This does not have anything to do with this thread ( I do not think)
but this thread started me thinking about a phrase my grandmother used.
she was from Amozoc, Puebla.

she would say "esta APOXCAHUADO" is the root of this "aztequizmo" poxcahui?
