I think Galen has hit the nail on the tzontecomatzinco, i.e., that 
maquilia meaning 'hit' is a borrowing from Spanish. (English also has 
"to give it to someone" meaning "hit".) Does this meaning of the verb 
maca ever occur in Classical Nahuatl? Anyone ever seen it?
