Title: Silent Determiners

We will try to show that strong evidence for silent determiners 
(mostly definite articles) can be found using the techniques of 
micro-parametric syntax as applied to the Romance languages. In many 
cases, one language will have an overt determiner where the next language 
does not. The non-random distribution of overt determiners across a 
range of different contexts and a range of different languages can be 
understood and simplified in terms of syntactic parameters of a
familiar sort.
