« Phonology, Syntax and Wackernagel’s Law »

A survey of the synchrony and diachrony  of second position clitics, 
focusing on some of Wackernagel’s original data (Rigvedic Sanskrit), but 
keeping the discussion fairly general and non-specialist. What can 
become a clitic, and what cannot, and why ?
