phonetics - please pass it on.

The activities of the Phonetics and Phonology Research Group at
Edinburgh are summarised here:

There has long been a substantial group researching phonology and
phonetics at the University of Edinburgh. Expertise is available to
supervise postgraduate research in phonological theory
(representational approaches, OT, Stratal phonology), historical
phonology, laboratory phonology, developmental phonology,
computational phonology, acoustic and articulatory phonetics, among
other areas.

The UK government's most recent Research Assessment Exercise ranked
linguistics at Edinburgh as the best in the UK, in terms of the
percentage of research that is of world-leading quality, with the
largest concentration of linguistics scholarship in the UK. The
University of Edinburgh, founded in 1583, is often ranked in the top
20 universities in the world. Edinburgh is the ancient capital of
Scotland and its entire centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is
frequently voted the UK's best city to live in or visit.
