Hello List,
Thank you all for your overwhelming response to my questions about
segmenting audio from last week. I'm providing a summary of suggestions
here, and I'm going to investigate them in the coming weeks. I'll let you
all know what I find out, and which method we eventually choose for the
Dena'ina project.
1. Convert the ELAN file to Quicktime text format, and import the audio
file. Then use Quicktime plug-in to play audio within a browser page.
(David Nathan)
2. Use Praat's script-writing facility: write a script that will extract
small sound files out of a larger one, using a tweaked ELAN XML file.
(Matt Toulmin)
3. Convert the ELAN file to a format supported by AGTK, then use
TableTrans to segment the file. (Steven Bird)
4. Use MPI's Econv to convert the ELAN file to Transcriber, the new
version of which will extract small sound files. (Doug Marmion)
Thanks again!
