Not sure if this has had exposure on RNLD before. 

Many Indigenous students in Queensland come to school 
with rich and complex language and cultural backgrounds.  These 
backgrounds do not necessarily include Standard Australian English 
(SAE) which is of paramount importance to teachers because SAE is the 
primary medium for communication within our classrooms and schools.
Language Perspectives
 project focusses on supporting teachers and schools understand and 
value the life experiences and language diversity that students bring to
 the classroom.  
Language Perspectives provides information, guidance and professional development in the following areas 

    Language situation
    
    Language awareness
    
    Language analysis
    
    Language assessment 
    
    Language teaching
    
    Language acquisition
