Announcement

Linguistics in the Pub (LIP) March 2012

Organised by RNLD http://www.rnld.org

Topic: Best and worst practice in Language Documentation

There is much discussion of best practice in language documentation but as
we all know, no language documentation project is perfect: each is the
result of collaboration between researchers and a community with
restrictions on time, money and many unforeseen circumstances. There is
always a gap between what we achieve and the most wonderful project of our
dreams.

Come and tell us about your experiences. What aspects of your language
documentation work are you most proud of? What will you do differently next
time? And what are some of the great things you have planned that you just
couldn't get off the ground?

Date: Tuesday 20th March

Time: 7:00 pm

Venue: Upstairs room, Prince Alfred Hotel,

191 Grattan St, Carlton

(corner of Bouverie St)

ph ‪(03) 9347-3033‬‎

Food and drinks available at the venue.

Contact Ruth Singer if you have any questions rsinger at unimelb.edu.au

LIP is an occasional gathering of language activists and linguists in

Melbourne. All are welcome. Those in other parts of Australia and the

world who can't make it to the Melbourne LIPs are encouraged to

organise a local gathering to discuss this topic and support language

activities in your area.
