Subject: Public Lecture 17 October: Success in early education for
Timor-Leste children from minority language communities
Greetings from Darwin. People in the Topend are often looking for clear
case studies and success stories relating to remote and indigenous
education. The public lecture on Monday, 17 October at 730pm at CDU (see
attachment for details) provides clear evidence for such a success story.
A recent news item said that if the Territory were a country, its education
results would rank in the bottom 20% of OECD nations. We know we can do
better. Perhaps we can learn from the experience of one strand of education
in Timor-Leste.
Please forward this information on to anyone else you think might be
interested.
Thanks,
Chuck
