Hello All,

This Sunday, February 21st, 2021 *7000 Languages <http://www.7000.org>*
will be hosting a virtual panel in celebration of *International Mother
Language Day*.

*Moderator:*

*K. David Harrison*- Anthropologist and linguist David Harrison has been a
National Geographic Fellow and co-director of the Society’s Enduring Voices
Project, documenting endangered languages and cultures around the world. He
has done extensive language revitalization work with Indigenous communities
from Siberia and Mongolia to Peru, India, and Australia. His was a subject
of the acclaimed documentary film The Linguists, and his work has been
featured in publications including The New York Times, USA Today, and
Science. David is a professor of linguistics at Swarthmore College, and a
fellow of the Explorers' Club.

*Panelists:*

*Delaney Lothian*- Delaney Lothian is a first year master's student in
computing science at the University of Alberta where she studies
technology's role in Indigenous language revitalization. She is Cree Métis
from mânitow sâkahikan (Lac Ste. Anne) and has been working on language
documentation in her community since youth.

*Carolann Jane Duro*- Carolann Jane Duro is a recent graduate from Scripps
College, where she earned her bachelor's in Sociology. Currently, she is
working as an intern for the Endangered Languages Project. She is a
California Indian (Maara'yam & Kumeyaay) and is very passionate about
Indigenous language revitalization. In her free time she also creates
content like videos, podcasts, and infographics online about Indigenous
languages and university life. *Hakup a'ai ami' pahi'kow tan hiiv!*

*Dewey Hoffman*- Dewey Hoffman is a current Arctic Indigenous Fund Advisor.
He is Northern Dene and Swiss-American from Ruby, Alaska. His Denaakk’e
(Koyukon Athabascan) name Kk’ołeyo means “walking” and his Iñupiaq name
Putyuk means “pinch.” Dewey lives in Fairbanks with his partner Marjorie
Kunaq Nekkon’ Tahbone, and their daughter Telele Iŋmaġana. He is learning
to speak Koyukon Athabascan and Iñupiaq Eskimo with his family.
