[RNLD List] Job opportunities at Mirima Language Centre

Can you imagine living and working in the beautiful East Kimberley region of
Western Australia?

Mirima Language Centre is located in Kununurra, which lies in Miriwoong
Country, sometimes referred to as "the last frontier".

The Miriwoong language is critically endangered and the community depends on
the support of motivated and committed experts from the field of linguistics
and Indigenous education. We are a friendly and dynamic, multicultural team
working together to revitalise Miriwoong.

At the moment, we offer job opportunities for three full-time positions,
entailing different kinds of skill sets and experience. 

1. Coordinator - Miriwoong Language Program: The successful candidate
manages the delivery of the upper primary division (Yr 3-6) of our Miriwoong
Language Program. He/she leads a team of Miriwoong educators and supports
the delivery of the Miriwoong language education program in conjunction with
the coordinator of the lower primary division (Kindy-Yr 2). This is a role
for someone with excellent people skills and a background in languages
and/or education.

2. Project Linguist - Advanced Miriwoong Learners' Grammar: The successful
candidate will develop and complete a comprehensive learners' guide for the
Miriwoong language, based on existing resources and in close collaboration
with our team. This role requires a strong background in linguistic
description, as well as the ability to render complex grammatical concepts
in simple terms.

3. Project Officer - Language Immersion Program (Early Years): The
successful candidate will continue with the implementation of a pilot
project started in 2024 as part of our Miriwoong language revitalisation
program. The Project Officer leads a team of Miriwoong educators in
developing the Miriwoong Language Capacity Development (MLCD) project, which
runs immersion-based language sessions for young children at local early
learning centres. This position is suited for someone with a background in
the space of early learning and a compassion for working with Indigenous
educators.
