this type of distinction is well known for nominal group complexes
(conjunctions of NPs), I am not sure if it also applies to clause
complexes (conjunctions of S), and is marked lexically as you say.
But is it also found as a *discourse connective* in those
(or other) languages?

And of course Gisela's point about *not* conflating discourse
signals with rhetorical relations is absolutely crucial).
