Hi Doug,

It's been a long time since we've corresponded. I've been monitoring the
SEALANG list, but have been quiet.

I am admittedly NOT an expert on this subject by any stretch of the
imagination; however, I looked at the scanned graphic of the palm papyri.
I don't know about these, but the script reminds me of some I had in my
possession at one time (mid 80s). They were in almost perfect condition,
kept in a sewn cloth sheath with a draw string, and (supposedly) contained
the chronicles of the Phu Thai people and their migration from Hue, Vietnam
to NE Thailand. (The sheaves are now back with the original owner, as to
where I haven't a clue.) The writing was called "tua khom" (open o in
khom) by the locals, an ancient script often used for recording historical
events, sacred things, and the like.

Can't help with the name "Shadow." It sounds like the translation of a
Thai nick-name, like "ngaw," possibly used for either gender. (??)
