A important new Thai text resource has just become available
-- the "World Classics in Thai" site at http://wanakam.com/ .
This site was set up to provide free, high-quality, close
translations of literary classics (supplied by Project Gutenberg
and Black Mask); texts thus far are primarily English; but some
French works are included as well. Wanakam intends to
continue adding roughly this amount of content -- about 70,000
words -- per month.
Marcel Barang is serving as editor-in-chief of Wanakam. He
is well-known for his enthusiastic promotion and translation of
Thai literature; you can find additional works and contact info at
http://thaifiction.com/ Marcel welcomes the use of the Wanakam
site as a resource for 'extensive' reading and study of translation;
it will also be extremely useful for research applications in NLP/
computational linguistics.
The first month's offerings are listed below.
