The 30th Annual Meeting of the Southeast Asian Linguistics Society (SEALS)
Call for papers
The Department of Linguistics at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa invites
scholars working on Southeast Asian linguistics to the 30th Annual Meeting
of the Southeast Asian Linguistics Society (SEALS), May 18-20, 2020, to be
held on the campus of the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa.

Kitima Indambarya, Kasetsart University
Peter Jenks, UC Berkeley
Aldrin Lee, University of the Philippines - Diliman
The SEALS Conference will be immediately preceded by the International
Symposium on Malay/Indonesian Linguistics
<https://indoling.com/ismil/ismil-24/> (ISMIL) and the International
Symposium on the Languages of Java (ISLOJ) on May 14-16, as well as a
series of workshops on various topics and a special lecture by Dr. Robert
Blust (University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa) on May 17, 2020.
Submissions of abstracts for talks and posters will be accepted beginning
November 01, 2019 at: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=seals30
Abstracts dealing with any areas related to Southeast Asian Languages will
be considered. Possible topics include, but are not limited to:

morphology

syntax

semantics

pragmatics

discourse analysis

genetic and areal relationships

interactional linguistics

historical and comparative studies

sociolinguistic studies

psycholinguistics

language acquisition

language endangerment

language revitalization/reclamation
Presentations will be 20 minutes followed by 10 minutes of discussion.
Abstracts should be written in English and submitted in PDF format.
Abstracts must conform to the following format requirements:

Abstract must have a clear and informative title (preferably centered at
top of page, in bold, in sentence case).
-
All text, examples, figures and references must fit on one A1 (8.5”x11”)
page (minimum font size: 11, single spaced).
-
Abstracts must be fully anonymous: authors’ names, affiliations, or
pictures should not be indicated anywhere in the document.
Abstracts must be submitted by January 05, 2020 via the EasyChair system (

Deadline for Abstract Submission: January 5, 2020
Notification of Acceptance: Early February, 2020
