Dear SEELANGERs:

I've noticed an error in my textbook that was not listed on the errata
sheet and wanted to call it to your attention.

On p. 188 of the main text, in the paragraph immediately following the
Russian saying, the paragraph should end after the parenthetical expression
"in broad daylight". The expression "lit' krokodilovy slezy" is not an
example of the grammatical paradigm discussed in that chapter, but an
example of an accusative case ending of the possessive form derived from
krokodil. Thanks to my colleague, Frank Miller, for calling that error to
my attention. Several native speakers helped me proofread my textbook, but
there are always things that slip past the most attentive eyes.

By the way, an errata sheet for the main text is available from McGraw-Hill
representatives. If you don't know who your McGraw-Hill representative is,
you may find out by contacting Margaret Metz (mmetz at mcgraw-hill.com) and
she will point you in the right direction. An errata sheet for the
workbook/lab manual will be available from McGraw-Hill representatives in
early August, which is when I expect both the Instructor's Manual and tapes
to be available.

I hope you will find the textbook useful despite the occasional glitches.

Ben Rifkin
