Why not ? It seems to be a lot of common roots (some of them certainly
Indo-european ) :
Mater/mat'/mother/mere
Frater/brat/frere/brother
Hortus/gorod/garden/jardin
Sol/solnce/soleil
Luna/luna/lune
Domus/dom
Mare/more/mer
Pastor/pastukh/patre

And certainly many others.
