Dear everyone,

First: thanks for the many helpful responses to my question about how to
translate: IKH DUSHA DAVNO RASSEYALAS'.  I think I may translate it as
THEIR SOUL GAVE OUT LONG AGO. Not 100% accurate, but the tone is right,
and it gets the idea of attrition, and I like the hint of GAVE UP.

Another question: can anyone give me some idea of the value of 300
roubles in the mid-thirties?
