The Northwestern University Department of Slavic Languages and
Literatures seeks a tenured associate or tenure-track assistant
professor to begin September, 2002 (contingent on final budgetary
approval).  We are looking for a scholar with imagination, literary
sensitivity, and clear evidence of outstanding teaching ability in
any area(s) of Russian or East European literature and culture, but
with a preference 20th-century Russian prose.  A secondary
specialization in Czech literature and culture would be desirable.

to interview selected junior candidates at the AAASS Convention in
