One-Year Lecturer Position

The Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures at the University of
Virginia invites applications for a one-year, full-time position at the rank
of Lecturer for the 2003--2004 academic year.  Primary responsibility will
be Russian language instruction at all levels, and supervision of  Teaching
Assistants in first-year Russian.  Candidates are expected to have a
scholarly background in Russian language, Russian or Slavic linguistics,
Russian literature, or Russian culture (Ph.D. preferred).  We are seeking
individuals with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching.
Candidates must have native or near-native proficiency in Russian and a
professional level of fluency in English with practical knowledge of
proficiency-based curriculum.  Knowledge of a second Slavic language is
desirable.  Teaching load six courses (3 per semester).  Send letter of
