Help with a quote

Colleagues,

I believe that somewhere in Nadezhda Mandelstam's autobiography she quotes
Osip Mandelstam as saying something to the effect of: "The USSR is the only
place they truly value poetry.  It is the only country in which they will
kill you for writing it."

Can anyone tell me exactly where this quote appears?  Answer off-line,
please.
