I think they were called "Besedy o russkoi kul'ture" and I saw some of them in 1988. They were recorded by Estonskoe televidenie, but aired first by Leningradskoe televidenie (which one could watch in Moscow and in some other places). Later, they were shown on central TV channels as well and, probably, not once. I think that if you enter беседы о русской культуре into Google, there's going to be a lot in leads.
