Dear Colleagues,

A journalist has asked me whether I know the origin of the following
quip, which he has been told is by Tolstoy: "There are only two kinds of
stories.  A man goes on a journey, and a stranger comes to town."

Does any one recognize this quote?  Please answer offline, and I will
post the answer if I receive it.
