The Summer Research Lab (SRL) enables scholars to conduct advanced research 
in Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies.  Lab associates are given 
full access to the collection and resources of the University of Illinois 
Library, the largest Slavic collection west of Washington, DC, and are able 
to seek assistance from the Slavic Reference Service staff.  The SRL 
provides an opportunity for specialists to keep current on knowledge and 
research in the field, to access newly available and archival materials, 
and disseminate knowledge to other scholars, professionals, government 
officials, and the public.  The Summer Lab is an ideal program for doctoral 
students conducting pre-dissertation/dissertation research.  See below for

Housing and Graduate Travel Grants: for U.S. citizens and permanent 
residents  13 May
Lab Only (no housing grant): at least 2 weeks prior to arrival
