Problems Switching between Russian and English Fon ts in Windows X P

I've tried to do that many times and, unfortunately, that option has never
worked for me.  Does it for others?

It happens to me all the time.

There is another icon (keyboard), in the right low corner.
I usually click on it and make selection, if Shift +Alt
failed.
