A few years ago I consulted dozens of people over this very question. The
consensus was that ALL work published in the Soviet Union, even before 1973,
remains in copyright for 50 years after the writer's death, as long as there
is a recognized heir. And an extra four years can be added on to make up
for 1941-45.
