the Valaam island question--WW1 disabled veterans

I would very much like to know if you do find this. A lot of disabled veterans
from Leningrad were moved to Valaam Island on Lake Ladoga; all info on the
place gratefully accepted - Anna Reid------

Dear Anna,

Iurii Nagibin's story "Terpenie" (Patience) gives a very moving account of these
disabled people. If I'm not mistaken, the story was included in Nagibin's book
"Ostrov liubvi". It's possible to find it in Russian on the internet, too
(through the yandex.ru website).
