Dear all,
The speaker is Zurin, most likely a bit drunk. He is addressing an ordinary
soldier, asking why the woman he wrongly imagines to be a kumushka of
Pugachov’s has not been brought in to see him. What exactly do the last 5
words mean? Obviously some level of physical violence is intended, but how
much? Is it simply that Zurin wants the soldier simply to give the girl a
push that will send her flying into the room where he and his mates are? Or
is he telling the soldier to beat her up a bit?
Best Wishes to all,
Robert
