Russian software oftens runs only with a Russian Windows as operating
ssytem. So you are oblige ou to buy the far more expensive western versions
of the Russian software. The problem for us is in the code page. Under
Windows XP the problem can be overcome easily:
Start / Control Panel (or Start / Settings / Control Panel in classic view)
1.. Double-click Regional and Language Options
2.. Click the Advanced tab
3.. Under "Language for non-Unicode programs", choose Russian
4.. Click OK
5.. Agree when the system offers you to re-start your computer
That should do the trick.
The disadvantage is that the accented characters in i.e. French and German
will be affected. Instead of a French e accent aigue I now see а Russian и
on my screen.
Apart from that I am not aware of any problems. My Russian software runs
impeccably.
You can always decide to restore the original code page.
