accommodation in Zagreb

Dear all,

Does anyone have any ideas or recommendations on getting an affordable 
place to stay in Zagreb for the month of May?

I'm doing dissertation research in the region and I need to work at the 
National and University Library in Zagreb but only for about a month 
(May or June) and I can't find anything affordable for such a short 
period.  Hostels are as much as $600 for the month in a 6-person room. A 
single room or a small apartment for that price is ok.
