Novyj god

I could not find the message as to who was asking about  
capitalization of the phrase. Well, I found (in my garage) the little  
dictionary entitled "Propisnaja ili strochnaja" and on p. 200 it  
states that it is Novyj god (prazdnik). God is not capitalized.
