Google digitizing all books

I don't pretend to understand all the economic issues around Google
Books and copyright, but I think it should be mentioned that there is
already a non-profit organization working (much more slowly) to make
digital versions of books freely available. The last time I checked,
their Russian collection was limited, but in the future
<www.archive.org> may be a useful alternative to Google. The same site
has a very handy tool for looking at past versions of websites (the
"Wayback Machine").
