One of the renowned Russian and Polish linguist I.A.Baudouin de Courtenav, who founded the Kazan Linguistic School, and kept up a vast correspondence with Saussure was one to introduce his ideas to Russian linguistic world. He studied contemporary spoken languages (that is considered as a field of synchronic linguistics) and made the distinction between language and speech. Many of these ideas he developed contemporaneously with Ferdinand de Saussure.

Does anyone know when Saussure's ideas first became popular in Russia?
