She should look at Afanas'ev #104, Vasilisa the Beautiful, and many 
other folktales in which Baba Yaga teaches young girls to spin and 
weave.  She might find some helpful info in Linda Ivanits' _Russian Folk 
Belief_ also, including some relevant material on St. Paraskeva-Friday, 
patron saint of women's work.
