Dear Colleagues,

He was extraordinary in multiple ways and had a truly wonderful run, but on
15 February Walter Arndt (b. 1916) died, thereby depriving those of us who
loved him of an unequalled friend, and Slavic of a marvelous colleague,
translator, and wit.
