Scholarship for Folklore Expedition

American Friends of Russian Folklore is now accepting applications for a
scholarship to join next summer's folklore expedition to the Don Cossack
town of Belaya Kalitva, Rostov province, Russia.  The location is famous as
the site of the battle between the Russian and Polovtsy recorded in the
twelfth-century epic "The Tale of Igor's Campaign" (Слово о полку Игореве).
Dates of the expedition are July 20-31, 2011.  The scholarship is open to
any US citizen, 18 or over, with an interest in Russian folklore.
Russian-language skills are helpful but not required. Deadline for
applications is March 1.  Details, application form, and information about
other upcoming expeditions is available at:
