Yes. Ethnonyms in the Plains/Prairie area are often loans, though it can
be difficult to determine their origin and meaning. They seem to be
visiting everywhere from nowhere. Ray DeMallie was quite correct to
suggest we all hold our horses until we get to look over the synonymies in
the Plains volume(s) of the HBNAI. Unfortunately I haven't bought a copy
yet!
