Regarding wakhaN etc - didn't the Chctaws used to have a special take on the
spirituality of rattlesnakes?  Or am I misremembering something that Swanton
wrote about circa 1922?  If I have remembered it correctly, then it's a
crosslinguistic areal culture feature.
