Bob, at one of the Siouan conferences -- seems like maybe with MidAmerica
in Stillwater or maybe Lawrence (?) Wes reported on that work, I think.
It went along with his conclusions about "root extensions", i.e. the idea
that the outside consonants in CCVC or CVCC roots are a very old layer of
derivational morphology. If you have your conference handouts organized
in some way (I could probably find mine with a few hours of searching, but
I don't have time for that now) you might locate his handouts.
