The CSD compares Dakotan s^a 'red' with the term s^e 'red haw, apple'
found in Dhegiha and Ioway-Otoe.  Winnebago has ks^ee 'apple'.  In
Crow-Hidatsa, cf. Cr his^s^i.  In Mandan se?- 'red'.

To the forms cf. OP z^ide add Southeastern forms along the lines of
PSE *ac^huti.
