It would be a nice idea if folks would do some editing of the text they
are responding to.  In particular, it's an inefficient use of email to
keep prepending your response to the an unedited copy of what you are
responding to.  This produces a tendency for letters to grow without end,
since the material at the very end never gets removed.  If you go over the
material you are replying to and consider whether any of it could be
deleted, then you get an opportunity to delete the material it was
replying to, and the material that was replying to, and so on.
