OSAGE TRIBE JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION: Director, Osage Language Program
COMPONENT: Language Program
SUPERVISOR: Chief/Osage Tribal Council
SALARY: $39,124.80 Annual ($18.81/hr.)
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Develop an operational time-line to monitor progress of the Osage Language
Program. Oversee staff duties and activities. Direct the placement of the
Osage language in school systems. Create the Orthography of the Osage
language. Establish an Osage Elder communication venue to acquire cultural
and traditional Osage practices, and the authentic and bona fide usage of
the Osage language, within those practices.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Linguistics or equivalent experience.
Excellent people skills, strong written and oral communication skills, and
the ability to analyze and evaluate information.
Good planning, problem-solving, organizational and time management skills.
Proficient with computers and computerized spreadsheets.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* The use of the Internet and web development tools in instruction.
* The strategic planning and implementation of a successful program.
* The capacity to effectively manage projects; to set and accomplish
goals and priorities; and to establish relationships.
* Knowledge of curricula and standards at a local and/or national
level, especially in language arts.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills, with experience in
public speaking and with publications.
