Maybe the better place to look for French dialect "pig" words is
Meyer-Luebke, romanisches etymologisch Woerterbuch (1935), entry 4745.
And let's remember that Quebec is not necessarily going to be
representative of all rural French dialects, esp. those spoken by
Mississippi valley settlers.
