Subject: RE: Inyan Woslata
Being from North Dakota I can best answer this question.
Woslata means to stand up. I think this word is for inanimate objects. As
opposed to Nazin for animate objects.
There are many sources for the term Inyan Woslata in Dakota / Lakota
texts. I believe Willamson lists this name in his dictionary.
There is also the name of the long bone breastplates used by women called
Huhu Bosdata (Dakota). We also have a famous rock by Ft. Ransom called
Inyan Bosdata here in ND. A state historic site.
I am enclosing my list of Seven Council Fire reservations.
have a great day,
Louie
