sad news

This is very sad news, and a surprise to me, too, as the last time I saw Tom
he seemed in high spirits and good health. But that was two years ago now.

Tom was very kind to me at times when I needed it, and shared some of the
best advice and knowledge. He has always kept up with this list, and even
though he didn't post often, when he has, it's always been tremendously
valuable. I'll miss his friendly person and his knowledge and advice.
