I have been teaching my best friend's baby how to sign to tell us when she
wants her cup, down, all done, please, thank you, mommy and daddy. She learns
something new each week. (She just turned 13 months). She used to whine alot,
now she just tells us what she wants. She also is learning to say "please,"
so she signs and says please whenever she wants something. I think that
teaching sign to a baby is wonderful. (AND) I don't think it slows down their
learning of the spoken language.
