Title: Assistant Project Director of the Star Schools Project
Reports to: Star Schools Project Director

General Description:
Meeting regularly with the SSP Director to develop, plan and implement the
goals of the SPP, providing feedback to the project Director on project
implementation, providing technical assistance and training support to SSP
mentors/trainers and teachers; facilitation weekly seminars at NMSD,
monitoring weekly seminars at four site schools; distributing training
materials at NMSD and site schools; collecting documentation at NMSD and
other site schools (e.g., reflective logs, student writing samples, etc.);
developing and refining purposes, guiding questions, and application
assignments for weekly seminars with the Project Director, reviewing
reflective logs and summarizing main points from teachers¹ discussions at
NMSD, providing feedback on teaching methods related to bilingual/ESL
methodologies through classroom observation; identifying, implementing and
supporting appropriate instructional strategies within a bilingual/ESL
framework, providing technical assistance in establishing the SSP in other
site schools; participating in national/international conference/workshops
to ensure that information, research, and knowledge are current; some travel
and flexible hours may be required on occasion; other duties as assigned by
the Project Director. (Position is funded by Federal Grant
Qualifications Required:
MA Degree in Deaf Education, or related field, of Deaf and Hard of Hearing
children. Preferred of five years of successful teaching experience in a
K-12 setting with one year of administrative experience. This position
requires an extremely positive, nurturing, enthusiastic, creative individual
who enjoys working with teachers and administrators. ASL proficiency,
excellent writing skills, experience with staff/teacher development and
supervision. Must have good computer, organization and communication skills.
Knowledge of Deaf Culture, ASL development and teaching, English as a second
language, second language acquisition and teaching, and bilingual education
is critical.
