I am the Deaf Ed person in Hunter's Special Ed Department (masters-level
teacher
training). The department is expanding the program to include a second
Deaf Ed faculty member. Below is our call for the new line ..... I would
love for you to pass this on to all the corners of the earth where there

Assistant Professor, Tenure Track Position
Available:
September 1, 2001
Duties:
Teach in graduate deaf education program within the Department of
Special Education (courses include some but not all of: Core special
education courses, language acquisition and reading, speech and aural
rehabilitation, math and content areas, ASL, clinical teaching); supervise
fieldwork; conduct scholarly activities; participate in the work of the
department/college.
Qualifications:
Earned doctorate in Deaf Education or closely related field; potential for
college-level teaching, including integration of technology; scholarship
and professional service; fluency in ASL.
Required:
Classroom teaching experience in urban and multicultural settings.
Salary Range:
$32,703.00 - $57,049.00
Special Education - Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing: Assistant Professor,
full-time nine-month tenure track position with possibility of summer
employment. Available August 2001. Duties: teach courses in graduate deaf
education program (including some of but not limited to curriculum
development, speech and aural rehabilitation, ASL, language and literacy,
bilingualism, linguistics), as well as graduate professional core courses
in special education (eg., overview of the field, assessment, integrative
experiences); supervise field experiences; conduct scholarly activities;
and participate in departmental and college activities. Qualifications:
Earned doctorate in Deaf Education or related field, potential for
accomplishment in college-level teaching, research, and professional
service; ability to integrate technology into teaching. Fluency in ASL a
plus; ability to relate to increasingly diverse groups of people a must
(including students, faculty, children and schools served by teachers).
