query: relationships between sign languages

ASL as it is used in the USA has dialects developing (according to
anecdotes) in Canada, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic. I am also
told that there is a community of ASL users in South Africa. Already there
are noticeable differences in vocabulary but not syntax.
