POSITION VACANCY: DEPARTMENT OF LINGUISTICS
FACULTY POSITION
(Tentative, pending funding)

The Department of Linguistics in the Graduate School and Professional
Programs announces a regular, tenure track, nine month faculty
vacancy.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1.  Experience and demonstrated excellence in teaching linguistics
    required.
2.  Ph.D. in Linguistics or closely related field (degree must be
    completed by August 2004)
3.  Ability to lecture in American Sign Language strongly preferred.
4.  Substantial research and experience in sign language
    linguistics. Preference will be given to applicants with
    background in grammatical analysis of sign language(s).

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.  Teach undergraduate linguistics course.
2.  Teach graduate courses in the M.A. and Ph.D. Programs in
    Linguistics.
3.  Supervise undergraduate and graduate students in linguistics.
4.  Undertake scholarly studies.
5.  Fulfill program, department and university committee assignments.
6.  Other duties as assigned by the chair.

SALARY AND RANK:

Assistant professor tenure track position, rank and salary
commensurate with experience and qualifications. Appointment will be
for the regular nine month academic year.

August 16, 2004
